Lomography - Diana

Hello everyone!

After reading Christinas blog post about her Diana camera I really want to get back in to using mine.

                                                           (me and my diana camera)

Lomography do loads of different film cameras that create different effects. Mines the Diana which creates dreamy, retro looking photos on 120mm film. Another great feature is being able to do double exposures which is when you take one photo, don't roll on the film and take another photo on top.

Here's some of my shots so far:

Double exposure of my friend Rozi

Double exposure of my boyfriend skateboarding and his t-shirt.

Double exposure of myself and my tie dye top to create the ring effect.

Double exposure of Sarah and her tattoo.
Skateboards!

Double exposure

Me and Jasper the cat. The white is where light has gotten into the film where I didn't wrap it tight enough.
 Nikki
Double exposure of Nikki walking along and skating along.
Double exposure myself skating along and the sea!
Double exposure of the Viper pub and some clouds.

Nikki and me with our slushies!

The only bad thing is the cost of getting it developed. I have used jessops before but I think it cost £16! I have heard that you can post them off to online companies such as Peak Imaging to get them developed for a bit cheaper but I've never used them. If anyone's got any suggestions please let me know.

Hope you like!

PUG LOVE

Hello everyone!

As some of you may be aware I have two lovely little pugs Percy (fawn boy) & Dotty (black girl). Dottys actually a quarter jack russel but she looks very puggy. Here they are:

Once you have pugs you seem to collect pug related stuff so here's a collection of my favourite pug purchases:

 1) Pug Life T-shirt by Gemma Correll from Urban Outfitters

I've got this pug T in navy as I love Gemma Corrells artwork. Urban Outfitters also do alot of her other designs including her "Pugs not drugs" and "Notorious P.U.G." T-shirts.

2) Pug salt & peppers by Quail

Quail do lots of lovely ceramic animals. I also have a guinea pig egg cup holder :-) You can view all their designs on their website. I have these more as ornaments then to actually use though haha.

3) Pug mugs by Gemma Correll from Mama San

I have the fawn and blue pug mug and love it! They've also recently gone down in price so if you're after one nows a great time :-) Mama San also have lots of other pug products in their online store.

4) Pug dress from ASOS

I have this lovely dress in cream with a black pug print. It fits really nicely as it's made from a soft jersey. It's also available in black and a skirt version.

 5) Pug Bedding & Pug Cushion from Primark

Pugs seem to be quite fashionable at the moment which is great as shops like Primark have started doing lots of pug related items! I have this pug bedding which was only £14 (double bed) and pug cushion (£4).

6) Pug Collar Clips from Ladybird Likes

I couldn't resist these lovely handmade pug clips when I saw them. Also available in a necklace.

We also have these lovely porcelain pug mugs and matching greeting cards available in our store Kate Parkers Cabinet of Curiosities

What's your favourite?

Crafty Creatives - Dreamcatcher

Hey everyone!

I subscribed to crafty creatives after seeing it on Hayleys blog Water Painted Dreams. Basically you get sent a little box every month with a couple of kits and some other bits to make what you want.

This months theme was WESTERN. The kits were a dreamcatcher and a rope bowl. I also got some fabric patches, star studs, beads, fringing, craft paper, a bear gemstone bead, an art print and a few other bits I can't remember haha.

I've started with the dream catcher kit - everything is included but you also need scissors and glue.

You start with a metal ring which you wrap the leather round, gluing it down as you go. I used my glue gun (which I love) as it will glue anything to anything haha. I can imagine PVA would get quite messy!

Ta da! The instructions said to make a loop with the thread provided but I made it with the leather as I thought it'd be sturdier.
The next step is to tie and then loop the thread around the ring making sure its not too tight. I used my finger to hold each section down then loop.

You then repeat, this time looping the thread through your previous loops and repeating until you get to the middle. This bits quite fiddley - I found it easier if you put the loop flat on the table and use your finger to pull each loop.
This is mine! I think I missed out some loops but it doesn't really matter.

Now it's time to add decoration; anything from beads to feathers to tassles. I added a little bead and feather charm. I found the thread provided a bit crap as it kept fraying making it impossible to thread through the beads so I may go and add some more decoration later with my own thread.

This is my finished dreamcatcher! :-)

Geisha / Venetian Doll Inspired Photoset

Hello everyone!

I was inspired to do this photoset by this lovely Pierrot doll I bought this year in Venice.

Pierrot is a stock character of pantomime and Commedia dell'Arte whose origins are in the late seventeenth-century Italian troupe of players known as the Comédie-Italienne.

His character in popular culture is that of the sad clown. Performing unmasked, with a whitened face, he wears a loose blouse with large buttons and wide pantaloons. Sometimes he appears with a frilled collaret and a hat.

My kimono style gown reminded me of the dolls silky clothes which inspired me to combine the two ideas to create a modern geisha / doll style. I did my makeup similar to the dolls - I was going to use the bindi as a tear but thought it looked better like this. I used the background as I thought it looked similar to Japanese screens and did some of the shots in the mirror with a vignette edge to create a voyeuristic almost stage effect.
